What Is Chiropractic Care?

Many people think chiropractic care is just about “cracking” the spine. While adjustments can be part of treatment, chiropractic care is really about understanding how your joints, muscles, and nerves work together—and what happens when something isn’t moving or functioning the way it should.

Chiropractors are trained to diagnose and treat problems of the musculoskeletal system, which is often the root cause of back pain, neck pain, and many other everyday aches and injuries.

What most people don’t know is that chiropractors can also pursue advanced training and specialized certifications after school. Some focus on areas like sports injuries, workplace injuries, neurology, or advanced spine care.

In my office, I focus on spine-related pain, with additional training in sports and occupational injuries. My goal is to identify the mechanical and movement-related issues causing your pain and treat them at the source—helping you move better, feel better, and get back to doing what you enjoy

Chiropractic Care vs. Other Treatments

Chiropractic care isn’t an “either-or” choice compared to other treatments. The right care depends on what’s actually causing your pain.

Some patients have joint-related (mechanical) problems, others have muscle strains or imbalances, and many have a combination of both. That’s why an accurate diagnosis matters.

For example:
A patient with chronic back pain may need spinal treatment first to restore proper movement. Once that’s addressed, they may be referred to physical therapy to build strength and prevent the problem from coming back.

In some cases, I may also recommend massage therapy or acupuncture. The goal is always the same—the right treatment, at the right time, for your specific situation.
